Partnership approach
Jobs West is a 'not-for-profit' community organisation, delivering training through collaborative arrangements with industry and government agencies. This Skill Centre has strong sponsorship from industry and is being developed under the guidance of a Logistics Industry Reference Group.
This is an opportunity for companies seeking to grow their profile in the Logistics industry by taking an active role in the development and sponsorship of this Centre. Contact Dave Grealy, our CEO, on 9209 4300 or dgrealy@jobswest.com.au

Sponsorship Options
The options for sponsors are to purchase naming rights for specific training rooms, workshops, and the whole centre, or to be recognised as a supplier to the centre. The sponsorship levels are based on the profile levels available.
You can also choose to be recognised as a supporter, simply by registering your Apprentices and Trainees with our New Apprenticeships Centre (NAC). This enables the government to support us financially. The added benefit for you is that this enables you to provide nationally recognised training for your staff, and our NAC to pay government incentives to you to support this training.

Key success factors
One of the key factors in our success with this Skill Centre is the strong industry and government support for our innovative approach to training in a "live" business context. This Skill Centre incorporates an active Warehousing enterprise, where we receive, catalogue, store, pick, pack and despatch materials for government departments and organisations that support the concept of training for disadvantaged people.
As a Registered Training Organisation, our training and assessment services are nationally recognised.
Jobs West is particularly well known and respected in the Logistics industry due to our emphasis on career based training for transport and storage workers. In recognition of our training and assessment services, we won the Logistics industry award for Service Excellence, where independent market research was organised jointly by the Logistics Association of WA and the Chartered Institute of Transport.

- Our Indigenous Careers in ICT project, where we have researched Indigenous community interest in ICT careers, and gained support from Indigenous professionals in the ICT industry and the training industry, as well as Logistics industry employers, to develop a specific Perth based Indigenous Employment Strategy for ICT careers, including specifically the ICT component of the Logistics industry. This Logistics / ICT Skill Centre proposal is a major component of the strategy.
- Our New Opportunities project, where we developed specific Warehousing training materials for people with a disability in partnership with Good Samaritan Industries, using ANTA funding and sponsorship from AMP.
- Our MegaBytes project where we receive second hand computers & peripherals from business and government, train disadvantaged people to refurbish them, then distribute them free through community and not-for-profit agencies.
- Our Logistics Careers for Youth initiative involving nationally recognised training through on-the-job Traineeships for Youth at Risk is enthusiastically supported by the industry.

Strategic focus
The strategic focus of the Skill Centre is fourfold:
- To provide practical Leadership Development courses that include implementation in the workplace.
- To substantially increase the provision of nationally accredited Vocational Education and Training, in consultation with industry leaders. This will be planned through our existing Logistics / ICT Skill Centre Industry Reference Group. This Skill Centre Reference Group will lead the development of the training culture in the Logistics industry by supporting the growing Logistics industry commitment to skill development.
- To increase the participation of people from disadvantaged groups in nationally accredited Vocational Education and Training, particularly Indigenous Australians and people with a disability
- To build workforce diversity, using existing proven strategies. Nationally accredited vocational education and training and New Apprenticeships and Traineeships will be used to ensure that the career opportunities of training participants are optimised.
